More Stable Oxygen for Vietnam’s Shrimp and Fish Farms
NICO systems help manage dissolved oxygen in shrimp ponds, pangasius farms, hatcheries, reservoirs, and recirculating systems.
NICO generates ultra-fine air or oxygen bubbles that remain suspended longer than coarse bubbles. A designed recirculation loop distributes oxygen-enriched water and can complement surface aeration, filtration, and monitoring.
Built for Vietnam’s Aquaculture Conditions
Aquaculture supports livelihoods across the Mekong Delta and Vietnam’s coast. Warm water, biomass, organic loading, algae, rain, and uneven circulation can rapidly change oxygen, particularly before sunrise.
Common Farm Challenges
- Low dissolved oxygen that stresses stock and restricts feeding
- Uneven oxygen between the surface, deeper water, and pond corners
- Organic matter from feed, faeces, algae, and bottom sediment
- Changing salinity, pH, temperature, and rainfall
- High demand from continuous conventional aeration
- Water-exchange, effluent, and discharge-management requirements
- Limited visibility before critical oxygen events
How NICO Helps
- Deliver Oxygen Efficiently: Nanobubbles provide longer gas-water contact, supporting oxygen dissolution and distribution.
- Support Aerobic Water Conditions: Improved oxygen can support aerobic breakdown of organic matter and reduce deficient zones.
- Integrate with Farm Infrastructure: Side-stream systems can treat culture ponds, nursery tanks, reservoir water, RAS loops, biofilter supply, or effluent-treatment stages.
- Respond to Changing Demand: Sensors, schedules, and alarms can align operation with biomass, feeding, weather, and daily oxygen patterns.
Potential Operational Benefits
- More stable dissolved oxygen
- Better distribution through the water column
- Improved conditions for feeding and stock welfare
- Support for biofiltration and aerobic biology
- Reduced exposure to localised low-oxygen zones
- Retrofit options for existing farms
- Clearer operating decisions through monitoring
Results depend on species, biomass, feeding, temperature, salinity, water chemistry, pond geometry, circulation, and management.
Integration and Monitoring
A side-stream system draws water from the pond or tank, passes it through the nanobubble unit, and returns it through strategically positioned outlets. Existing surface aerators may remain valuable for circulation and emergency response. Intake protection and return-water distribution should prevent dead zones without disturbing stock or sediment.
Monitor oxygen at representative depths and times-especially before sunrise, after feeding, during heat, and after rain. Temperature, pH, salinity, ammonia, feed, growth, and mortality provide context.
Applications Across Vietnam
- Shrimp Ponds: Support whiteleg and black tiger shrimp production in coastal and Mekong Delta farming areas.
- Pangasius and Freshwater Fish: Improve oxygen distribution in high-biomass ponds, reservoirs, and treatment systems.
- Hatcheries and Nurseries: Provide controlled oxygenation for sensitive life stages and high-quality intake water.
- Recirculating Systems: Integrate oxygenation with solids removal, biofiltration, monitoring, and water reuse.
